Nitish Kumar modified Liquor ban rule in Bihar

Patna: In a volte face, the Bihar government on Thursday announced that the state government will only ban country-made liquor from April 01, 2016.

This decision could be the result of fear of reducing the big revenue of Bihar which comes from Liquor.

Bihar earns a revenue of nearly Rs 4000 crore annually from liquor sale.

According to a data, the revenue collection of excise department in Bihar registered a more than 10-fold jump, from Rs 319 crore in 2005-06 to Rs 3,650 crore in 2014-15.

However, Bihar Excise and Prohibition Minister Abdul Jalil Mastan told ANI on Friday that the state government will ban all kinds of alcohol.
