2,500 toilets built under CSR plan of NTPC power project

Bhagalpur: The management of Kahalgaon Super Thermal Power Project (KSTPP) has been trying to improve people’s life in the area. Under its corporate social responsibility (CSR), the KSTPP management has constructed 2,500 toilets so far in the four districts of Bhagalpur, Banka and Khagaria in Bihar and Godda in Jharkhand.

It also organized awareness programs related to cleanliness in 66 project affected people (PAP) villages with an aim to give fillip to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan‘.

KSTPP group general manager NN Mishra on Saturday said apart from constructing toilets, they were also engaged in providing medicare to local people. “In the last one year, 1120 eye patients were screened and 604 were operated for cataract and provided lens free of cost,” said Mishra.

He said 36 sewing machines were distributed among women and 35 children of Gaushiya Madrassa at Mahesamunda village were provided educational support. Total 75 solar lanterns were given to the needy students of PAP villages.

Talking about the power generation aspect of the 2,340 megawatt plant, he said the unit has achieved remarkable production of 12781.95 million units (MUs) of electricity. The present plant load factor (PLF) is 74.28%.

 “We aim to achieve 80-82% of the PLF by the end of financial year 2015-16,” he said after reviewing the production of the plant.
